This work is for my Deskpub class way back last March of 2011, I didn’t post it here because I wasn’t really active with my blog then, and now, as I’ve said before, I’ll start posting my works that never got posted here on my blog. I decided to share this because I see David’s answers very inspiring especially to those young individuals who wants to be like him. Dave is a good friend of mine, he is just a great example for our youth.
David Guison, Forever 21’s sole male ambassador, a popular blogger, one of the most hyped lookbook users, fashion photographer, graphic designer, too much talent? this man was born to be an artist!
So to start with, how does it feel to be the only guy ambassador of Forever 21?
First of all I am very honored that Forever 21 chose me to represent their brand and that they trust me enough to be the sole male brand ambassador. It’s awesome ‘cause we get to do so many amazing projects and shoots and I’m surrounded by pretty girls all the time haha.
How were you discovered? What started it all?
I got a direct message via Twitter from Carlos Concepcion asking me to cover for The Philippine Daily Inquirer for Philippine Fashion Week then I met Raymond Gutierrez there and he booked me for Preview Magazine. The week after I got an email from Forever 21 inviting me to become a brand ambassador. My blog became hyped because of it and I now write for Inquirer 2BU section as a student correspondent. Then I met editor-in-chief Rosario Herrera and they pitched me to a project for their magazine, Status. It has opened a lot of doors for me and I’m very thankful for it. I’m happy to be working at 19!
I’m a certified fan of your lookbook and blog, what’s with your unique style? Why do you think people love your style?
Thank you haha. I think it’s because my looks are wearable. It’s ‘realistic’ haha never too flashy and always just casual. An average teenage guy would relate to it. I’m really influenced by the military trend, clothes in hues of navy blue, army green, black and gray paired with combat boots.
You can model, you can picture, you can be a stylist, you can write, you can almost do everything, What else do you want to do?
There are so many things that I want do! I don’t even know where to start! I wanna make videos! I never get bored when make videos, from recording, editing to choosing the right music for it, etc. There’s so much that you can do with it! My friends and I tried making a fashion film out of town and it has gotten really good feedback! I also wanna have an exhibit, I wanna showcase something I’m also very passionate about which is painting. I also want to release a men’s line in the future. Right now I’m collaborating with a young graphic designer and we’ll be releasing our clothing line this summer, I hope it pushes through!
What made you blog? And why do you blog?
It was a boring summer and my parents got me a new camera. I decided to document what happens in my life and my readers seemed to love the photography and everything took off from there. I blog about the people I meet, events I go to, food I eat, clothes I wear, my artworks, pretty much everything. Sometimes I get lucky and important people in the industry stumble upon my blog and they collaborate with me. I consider blogging as just a hobby and my life outside school and work. It’s pretty fun actually, no pressure!
What is art for you?
Art for me is the world we live in, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the movies we watch, the songs we listen to, we’re surrounded by it!
We all know how busy you are, how do you balance your time in studies, work, and social life?
It’s awesome because my studies, work and social life are pretty much related to each other. What I learn in school is something that I can apply to my work, and in my work I always get to attend events and I meet a lot of new people so it’s a win-win for me. There’s only one thing missing though, love. Hahahahahaha!
IF GIVEN A CHANCE, WOULD YOU ENTER SHOWBIZ?
Never. I’m pretty much sure it’s not my calling (I don’t have what it takes too haha). I’ve been invited for tv guestings but the awkward boy in me just keeps on telling me to turn down these amazing opportunities. I know now that if I want to be successful, I have to step out of my comfort zone but I’d be more happy to be that person behind the camera.
Do you think you’re popular?
I’m not. I’m “appreciated” and “recognized” in the blogging community which I think is awesome because I put a lot of time and effort to it.
Have you ever dreamed of being like this before?
Never did. But I never wanted to work in an office haha!
I saw a video of you on youtube made by one of your fans! What was your reaction?
Hahaha that video is always a conversation starter whenever I go to events now. So funny I didn’t know a lot of people watched it. At first I was a little weirded out but my family and friends find it so funny hahaha we can’t decide which part’s the best!
Finally, What can you advice other aspiring individuals who wants to be like you?
Be yourself. Do what makes you happy. Everyday we create our history so let’s dream big and use our talents for the greater good! As we become champions in our respective fields, we should focus in helping our country. Be an inspiration to others as well.

This shoot is for my Magazine last March of 2011, I have to feature one student, ofcourse I have to feature a great one. The first person that came up to my mind was David, coz of the accomplishments he had in a very young age. Good thing he immediately said yes knowing how busy he is!
I really had a great time working with dave. Actually, he’s one of the best persons I’ve ever work with. I am not even telling him what to do, that’s how good he is. He projects his own poses, and he lets my job way easier. haha I hope I can work with him again in the future!
